Washing machine installation handover checklist: know what is complete before first use
At handover, ask what was installed, what was tested, what remains unfinished and how to use the washer safely for the first time. Keep the model, work record, supplied-item details and any pending action together. A delivery receipt or a machine that powers on does not describe the whole installation result.
This checklist is for the final conversation after new installation or reinstallation. Use the pre-visit installation checklist to prepare the appointment. Here the focus is the evidence and instructions you take away when the work ends.
Start with your exact model. Check the appropriate starting point, follow the setup decision sequence, then use the completion checklist.
For help in Bangalore, check visiting and inspection charges before booking.

Choose the correct handover status
| Situation | Record it as |
|---|---|
| Agreed work and applicable checks completed | Completed for the recorded scope and observed conditions. |
| Machine positioned but a required connection missing | Incomplete; identify the connection and responsible next action. |
| No water or power available for commissioning | Test not completed; agree what must happen before normal use. |
| Leak, abnormal movement or another concern observed | Unresolved concern; stop use where needed and request assessment. |
| A particular check does not apply to this model | Not applicable, with the reason if it is not obvious. |
| Owner did not witness the test | Record the provider’s report accurately; do not invent an observation. |
Use plain status words: checked, not checked, needs action or not applicable. These describe the record better than marking every line passed. If there is an unsafe condition, the immediate priority is appropriate isolation and help, not completing paperwork.
Six stages to a useful installation handover
Confirm the machine and agreed job
Match the full model and location to the work record. State whether the appointment was a new installation, reinstallation, connection correction or diagnosis. A clear job description makes the completion statement meaningful.
Walk through the final arrangement
Ask the installer to explain positioning, relevant transport preparation and connections from safe normal access. Do not pull the machine out or dismantle it to inspect completed work. Record any access limitation that still matters.
Review the commissioning result
Ask which applicable setup procedure or programme was used and what was observed. Distinguish a completed check from a test that could not run. State any message, leak, movement or unexplained result and the proposed next step.
Learn the owner’s first-use routine
Have the controls, correct first-use instructions and routine loading and detergent references explained. Identify where to find the exact manual. The person who will normally use the washer should receive usable instructions.
Reconcile items, charges and terms
Identify any newly supplied part or fitting and its price. Compare the work and total with what was agreed. Keep supplied-part coverage, installation workmanship and the manufacturer’s appliance coverage separate.
Record pending work and retain the documents
Write each unresolved item, the person or provider handling it and the next action. Keep the invoice and installation record with the manual. Do not describe an incomplete setup as ready for ordinary use merely because the appointment has ended.
A useful completion statement names the scope
“Installed” can mean different things in different conversations. One person may mean the box was delivered and the appliance placed in a corner; another may mean the connections and applicable commissioning were completed. Ask for enough detail to remove that ambiguity.
For a moved washer, record reinstallation separately from packing or transport. The installer may not have performed those earlier stages or seen the machine working before the move. Do not ask the final record to imply checks that the provider could not have made.
For a connection-only correction, specify that limited work. A successful hose connection does not amount to an assessment of every internal component. Equally, an unresolved unrelated fault should not disappear from the record because the connection task itself is complete.
The scope should be understandable to another person who later reads the invoice. Exact model, date, task, supplied items and the observed result provide a stronger starting point than a general claim that everything was serviced.
Ask about the final physical arrangement
| Area | Ask the installer to explain |
|---|---|
| Position and support | How the relevant model requirements were met at the final position. |
| Transport preparation | What applicable restraints or packing were addressed and what should be retained. |
| Water supply | Which tap isolates the appliance and what hose or fitting was used. |
| Drainage | Where waste water goes and whether the arrangement follows the applicable instructions. |
| Power and access | Any unresolved access or site issue and the appropriate person to address it. |
| Opening and owner care | How the door or lid opens and which routine access points the owner may use. |
The walkthrough is an explanation, not an invitation to repeat technical installation work. If a feature is hidden, ask what was checked and whether the provider can document it appropriately. Do not reach behind a running washer or open a cabinet panel to obtain your own proof.
Keep retained transport items with the model information where applicable. The transport-restraint guide explains why items retained for a future move should not be confused with parts to leave fitted during operation.
Record the programme and conditions of the check
Ask which commissioning activity was performed. The appropriate process may include model-specific preparation, calibration where applicable or a specified initial programme. These are not interchangeable labels, and this page does not prescribe one universal test for all washers.
A useful note identifies the programme or procedure, whether the drum was empty or a permitted load was used, and the relevant result. Record observations such as completion, a displayed message or a visible leak at a particular stage. Avoid upgrading a short observation into a guarantee of every future cycle.
If the installer reports a completed check that you did not witness, write that it was reported. There is no benefit in creating false certainty. Ask where the result is recorded and what to do if a concern appears during the first normal use.
If a required test could not run because water, power or another prerequisite was missing, keep that limitation visible. Agree who will complete the remaining process and what must happen before using the washer. The end of an appointment is not evidence that an unavailable test succeeded.
An unexplained result needs an action, not another tick
If water escapes, the cabinet moves abnormally or another concerning result occurs, ask for the observation and next step to be recorded. Stop use where required. Do not keep running the same test merely to make the issue more dramatic or obtain a better video.
For water near electrical equipment, avoid wet plugs, sockets and standing water. Arrange appropriate assistance. A handover checklist should never delay responding to an unsafe condition or encourage an owner to touch equipment to finish a check.
For a less urgent unresolved message or setup question, distinguish what is known from what is suspected. “Message appeared during the fill stage after reconnection” preserves useful information. “Control board failed” should not be entered as a confirmed diagnosis without supporting assessment.
Use the after-installation troubleshooting guide to organise the symptom and the responsible follow-up route. Installation, site services, transport and product issues may require different providers; timing alone does not prove who caused the problem.
Leave with instructions the main user can follow
Ask the installer to show the normal controls and explain where the correct first-use instructions are located. A quick demonstration should help the owner identify the appropriate starting routine, rather than memorise a button combination from another model.
Clarify the distinction between initial commissioning, any applicable calibration and the first ordinary laundry load. Ask whether the required setup activity has already been completed or remains an owner task under the manual. Record the answer to avoid repeating or skipping a step by assumption.
For everyday use, identify the relevant detergent compartment, suitable detergent instructions and programme-specific load guidance. Avoid a universal capful or kilogram rule for every cycle. The first-use guide provides a structured way to prepare that first load.
If someone else will usually operate the machine, share the instructions with them in a form they can use. A household member receiving the delivery may not be the person who later loads laundry. Keep the manual accessible instead of leaving all operating knowledge with the installer.
Your optional handover record
| Field | What belongs here |
|---|---|
| Identity and visit | Full model, date and provider or job reference. |
| Scope | The installation or correction actually agreed and performed. |
| Check result | Procedure, relevant conditions and observed or reported result. |
| Supplied items | Item identity, quantity and separately agreed price where applicable. |
| Outstanding work | Issue, current status, responsible provider and next action. |
| Documents and terms | Invoice, manual, coverage information and follow-up contact. |
These fields are optional working notes on this page. They are not sent to FixMyWasher and have no save or submission function. Copy useful details to your own record before leaving; browser behaviour on reload can vary. Do not enter passwords, payment details or other sensitive information.
These notes are a memory aid, not a FixMyWasher job submission or a certificate. Keep the provider’s original record as well. If your own note and the invoice differ, ask the provider to clarify the difference rather than silently changing what the original document says.
Make pending work specific enough to follow up
A pending item needs an action, not only a label. For example, a site tap that cannot isolate the supply needs a defined plumbing review before the connection process continues. “Plumbing issue” without identifying the blocked step leaves the next provider guessing.
Write who is expected to arrange the next step and what information they need. If timing is not confirmed, record it as unconfirmed and agree how the update will be obtained. Do not turn a suggested appointment into a promised date in your own notes.
When the remaining work is completed, add its date and result to the record. Keep the earlier limitation visible so the sequence remains understandable. This is particularly helpful when delivery, site preparation and installation occur on different days.
If the provider cannot complete a task within their scope, ask for the limitation plainly. It is better to know that electrical or building work needs another specialist than to interpret a general installation invoice as confirmation that those matters were resolved.
Match the invoice to the items and work supplied
Compare the complete amount with the agreed quotation and approved changes. Separate standard installation, additional material, extra handling, inspection and any other specifically agreed task. Ask about a difference while the work details are still clear.
For a new supplied item, retain an identifiable description rather than only “parts.” Brand and exact component requirements affect price; a hose, an adapter and an internal replacement part are not the same purchase. A quoted material charge should have a corresponding supplied item.
If a fitting was included in the standard job, clarify why another fitting charge appears. Conversely, do not assume that an explicitly separate site correction became free because it happened on the same day. The useful comparison is the complete agreed scope and total.
Keep purchase, delivery and independent service documents together but distinguish them. A seller’s new-appliance invoice and a later service invoice explain different transactions. Neither should be used to invent coverage or completion evidence absent from its actual terms.
Separate three different kinds of follow-up
New-appliance manufacturer coverage comes from the applicable product terms and purchase arrangements. Installation workmanship or a revisit commitment depends on the service agreement. A new part supplied by FixMyWasher has the supplied-part terms stated below. These are separate questions.
Ask which route applies to an unresolved installation matter and which applies to an apparent product fault. Keep the relevant reference and contact details. This guide does not claim manufacturer-authorised status or determine a particular manufacturer’s coverage decision.
Do not treat a one-year supplied-part warranty as proof that the entire washer has a fresh one-year warranty. If no new part was supplied during positioning or adjustment, that supplied-part statement does not create coverage for all original components.
If a problem returns, describe the earlier work and current observation when requesting follow-up. Give the provider the chance to compare it with the earlier scope and terms; do not label every later symptom either automatically covered or automatically unrelated.
Three handovers with different conclusions
Illustrative situations: These examples explain repair decisions. They are not records of actual FixMyWasher customer jobs.
Connections are complete but the water supply is unavailable
Record commissioning as not completed and identify the next step before normal use. Do not describe the missing test as passed.
The agreed initial check completes, but the main user missed the demonstration
Keep the result and arrange a clear explanation of first-use controls and the manual. A completed test does not replace usable owner instructions.
A new hose was supplied and an unrelated old fault remains
Identify the hose and its terms separately. Record the unresolved fault and any diagnostic next step without treating the hose replacement as a whole-machine repair.
Your handover is useful when…
These optional ticks are for your own review on this page. They are not sent to FixMyWasher and may reset when you leave or reload the page.
Budget for the actual installation work
Indicative FixMyWasher guide estimate: ₹400–₹800 for standard installation at a ready, accessible site. This covers the agreed normal positioning, suitable existing connections and relevant commissioning checks. It is a proposed budgeting range, not a surveyed market average or a fixed price for every machine.
| Work | Budget or quotation basis |
|---|---|
| Standard ready-site installation | ₹400–₹800 for the agreed scope. |
| Compatible hoses, fittings or other supplied items | Item-specific quotation before approval. |
| New plumbing, electrical changes or special handling | Separate scope; confirm the responsible provider. |
| Diagnosis or repair of an existing fault | Separate evidence-based quotation. |
The handover should explain the installation charge already agreed, not introduce an unexplained completion fee. If an additional visit or unresolved site task needs separate work, agree its scope and charges before booking it. Keep any earlier payment visible when confirming the remaining payable amount.
The final amount depends on brand, exact model, required part or fitting, access, location and work involved. The estimate excludes separately confirmed visit or inspection amounts, additional materials, site changes, transport, special access, unrelated repairs and any applicable tax not expressly included. Ask for the complete payable total; do not pay twice for fitting already included.
See the installation-charges guide for the full comparison. A booking is not approval for every additional item that might later be suggested.
Manufacturer setup reference
Manufacturer reference: Samsung: installation and setup guidance for the documented washer arrangements.
The reference illustrates that positioning, connections and applicable setup activities belong in an installation process. The exact model manual controls the procedures. The owner handover record on this page is an editorial aid, not a manufacturer certificate or a universal acceptance test.
Booking, visiting and inspection charges
The visiting charge is ₹200 if no repair is carried out. Inspection charges depend on location. Share your Bangalore locality or PIN code and confirm all applicable charges together before booking. ₹200 is not an advertised complete repair or parts-replacement price.
Ask how the visiting and inspection charges are treated if a repair proceeds. No automatic waiver, deduction or additional charge should be assumed. Your approved quote should make clear whether these amounts are included, credited or payable separately, and state any applicable tax and the final payable total.
For an installation-only, disconnection or reinstallation enquiry, confirm the applicable booking and cancellation terms specifically. The no-repair visiting rule is not a complete installation price, and it should not be used to assume how a different service is charged.
Understand the installation and supplied-part terms
New parts supplied by FixMyWasher carry a one-year warranty. Ask for the supplied part to be identified on your job record or invoice. This applies to that new part; it does not turn the job into a one-year warranty on the entire washing machine.
Repairing an existing component is different from supplying a new one. Confirm the terms for repaired boards, retained parts, workmanship, labour, revisits and customer-supplied items separately. Do not infer those terms from the new-parts warranty.
Keep the quote, approved changes and completion record together. If the symptom returns, report what happened and when rather than assuming that the same part has failed. Stop using the washer if it leaks significantly, trips the circuit or develops a burning smell.
Installation labour, adjustments and a setup check without a supplied new part do not create a one-year whole-machine warranty. Confirm workmanship and revisit terms separately. Check any installation included with a new purchase before arranging independent work; FixMyWasher does not claim manufacturer-authorised status.
Request help with a clearly described setup task
For an incomplete installation or follow-up enquiry, share the model, what the provider completed, what was actually checked and the unresolved item. Include the job reference where available; there is no need to repeat an unsafe test to support the request.
For a Bangalore enquiry, share your locality or PIN code, exact model, whether the machine is new or moved, and safe photos of the intended position and existing connections if useful. Confirm availability, service scope and all charges before booking. Transport, heavy lifting, new plumbing and electrical work are not automatically included in an appliance visit.
Use the installation service guide to prepare the request, or contact FixMyWasher. There is no need to dismantle the washer or recreate a fault to obtain a quotation.
Frequently asked questions
Is delivery confirmation the same as installation completion?
No. Record delivery, connection work and applicable commissioning separately so the actual status is clear.
What if water or power was unavailable during the visit?
Record the relevant test as not completed. Agree the remaining process and requirements before normal use.
Must every washer run the same handover programme?
No. The applicable process comes from the exact model instructions; this checklist does not impose one universal programme.
Does a completed short check guarantee every future cycle?
No. It records the result under the stated conditions and does not certify every component or future operating condition.
Should I move the washer out to inspect the rear myself?
Do not move a heavy connected appliance without suitable help. Ask for an explanation and documentation from safe normal access.
What should I write about a problem that remains?
Record the observation, status, responsible follow-up provider and next action. Keep suspected causes separate from confirmed findings.
Are the working notes on this page sent to FixMyWasher?
No. They have no submission or save function. Copy useful information to your own record before leaving the page.
Does installation include a one-year whole-machine warranty?
No such promise is made. FixMyWasher’s one-year warranty applies to new parts it supplies; workmanship and other terms require separate confirmation.
What if I did not personally see the test?
Record it as the provider’s reported result and retain their work record. Do not invent an observation.
Which documents should I keep?
Keep the purchase and service invoices, model manual, installation result, supplied-item details and any outstanding-work or follow-up record.
